At the Wildwood Convention I attended a one day Boots to Business Workshop that was hosted By the Department of NJ.
There was no homeless walk this year at the Convention. I have talked to the new Commander Jeff Hicks and this initiative will be run by the Sons of the American Legion next year. I will be looking for your support to make this a success. I have already contacted Wildwood to see what the process is to hold such an event. At the next Detachment meeting I will be seeking the approval from the Detachment and the Department for this event.
Also it has been brought to my attention that there are 2 groups of homeless veterans living in the woods. One group is in Cumberland County the other in Camden County. As I find out more information about these veterans I will inform you of their needs. Please check your hometowns for more people like this and try to get them help.
Volunteers needed at the South Jersey Stand Down to be held at the National Guard Armory Cherry Hill NJ Sept 21 2018. Any Questions email firstname.lastname@example.org
Please advise me by email any events and donations for Veterans Haven North or South from Dec 2017 to Dec 2018. This information is being compiled to submit a combined NJ Legion Family report to the National HQ. This year with the addition of the Detachment and a few reporting Squadrons it was enough volunteer time and donations for the American Legion Family of NJ to win the National award for Education Homeless and Employment.
Please keep checking the mailings and Detachment website for Events.
